Passelande Pictures LLC was formed in 2011 as a film production company for all films and photography going forward produced by filmmaker/photographer, Marcelina Cravat.
The first film produced by Passelande Pictures was our award winning environmental documentary, Angel Azul, narrated by the distinguished Peter Coyote. This was followed up by our second environmental documentary, Dirt Rich. Currently, in association with Andrew Kaufman MD, we have just completed TERRAIN, which is available on Amazon. Currently we've just begun production on a series entitled,
KNOW THYSELF which we aim to release late next year.
Origin of the Name
Derived from the legend of King Arthur, the word "passelande" is thought to be loosely connected to the medieval French language and to mean "passing over the land," a fitting name for a filmmaker telling stories around the world. In truth, the idea to use a horse as a logo came first after a whimsical sketch of a silly horse, or perhaps a mule, who stormed abruptly into the middle of a remote sandy Mexican beach restaurant. Stopping dead in his tracks with an illogical confused look this horse was the source of lots of laughter and hence the inspiration for the sketch... but he needed a name. The first one that came to mind was Don Quixote's "Rosinante" but the name seemed a bit of a challenge and the sketch too crude, so graphic designer Arthur Dwyer was hired to create another version. Cravat fell in love with his creation but decided it was more sophisticated than the original and needed a proper name. In her unsuccessful attempt to identify the name of Guinevere's horse she became intrigued with the name given to King Arthur's horse, Passelande. And that is the story of how Passelande Pictures got its name.

(Founder and Filmmaker)

Marcelina (Marcy) Cravat, trained at the Art Center College of Design and The Berkeley Digital Film Institute, is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Her first
film, Angel Azul, an environmental documentary narrated by Peter Coyote, and her second film Dirt Rich narrated by actor Greg Cruz, toured over 120 film festivals and picked up numerous
awards including the Grand Jury prize at the Dubuque International Film Festival. Her latest film TERRAIN, co-produced by Dr. Andrew Kaufman, was created during the worldwide lockdown
and in timely fashion served to inform viewers about the reality of the disproven germ theory when the world was in a state of fear driven panic based on faulty beliefs. This film is
available on Amazon and Ickonic.
Currently she is in production on a series of episodes entitled Know Thyself, that follow the path of a mother/daughter team seeking deeper expansion of self-knowing through curiosity, inquiry, exploration and discovery.
Marcy grew up in and around filmmakers as the daughter of character actor, Nick Cravat, and his circus partner and life-long friend and actor, Burt Lancaster. But it wasn't until later in her life that she embarked upon the transition from photography to filmmaking, a bittersweet reality as it was a decade after both her father and Burt passed.
As a filmmaker, Marcy aims to creatively present messages that inspire people to explore for themselves so that they might embrace their own understandings and the value and responsibility of their unique consciousness.
